getbeans.eu is a search engine for European specialty coffee. It indexes 10,000+ coffees from 400+ independent roasters across Europe and makes them searchable the way coffee people actually think: by origin, process, variety and tasting notes. Every coffee links straight to the roaster's own store — there is no cart here, no checkout, no middleman. You buy from the people who roasted it.
The data comes from Shopify's Global Catalog — a new open protocol that lets applications read product catalogs across Shopify stores. getbeans reads the catalogs of European roasters, then uses AI to extract and normalize what raw product data doesn't structure: origin, variety, process and tasting notes, from each coffee's own description. Prices are normalized per 100 g so a 250 g bag and a 1 kg bag compare honestly. The index refreshes regularly; out-of-stock coffees drop out on their own.
I'm Ruben Bristian, co-founder of Krown Themes — we've been designing Shopify themes since 2015. getbeans started as a weekend experiment with two questions: can one person build a real search engine on top of Shopify's new Catalog protocol, and why can I never find which European roasters currently have a washed Ethiopian that tastes like apricot? It was built in a weekend, working with Claude (Anthropic's AI) as the developer, and it stays a hobby project — expect rough edges, and tell me what should be better: me@rubenbristian.com.
If you're listed here — hello! Your page pulls live from your own store, so it stays current on its own. If something looks wrong, or you'd rather not be listed at all, write me and I'll fix or remove it, no questions asked.
